A note from Jasmine
I’M HONOURED that people come to me for different reasons and through different stages of life: to welcome a new baby or record their babies growing up, to mark their own transformation into motherhood, or to celebrate an engagement or another moment of personal significance.
Others are simply drawn to explore their own confidence and sense of themselves through the profound experience of being photographed.
Each woman's story is unique, and I seek to observe her individuality with sensitivity and to reflect it back to her gracefully.
At each session, I work to create a set of timeless, elegant photographs that will forever be fresh and evocative, and that will grow in meaning with every passing year.
I first learned photography on analogue film cameras and in the alchemy of the darkroom.
Film is my first love and I remain devoted to the art and craft of film photography, as well as the tactility and legacy of the printed image.
On a personal note:
I am a history enthusiast; I’m endlessly fascinated by the art, cultures and individuals of the past.
I like to take walks at dusk, when the light is most beautiful.
I make my home in inner-city Melbourne, where I live with my husband and our sweet son. However, the places I return to regularly are both magical islands—Tasmania, where I was raised, and Sri Lanka, where I also now have family. The ocean is my happy place.
